Singapore, 7 August 2013 – Five organizations have been recognized for their effort in environmental conservation and green commitment carried out in their office during the months of March to June. The Eco Action Day’s Post Event & Eco Award Ceremony was held at Mapletree Business City, a BCA certified platinum building, on 29th July in marking a closing for this year-long campaign with a campaign review as well as award recognitions to a few well-deserved organizations which had gone the extra mile in making a difference to the environment.
“Embarking on this journey is never easy, but it is really encouraging to see how it has progressed over the years”, said Mr. Vincent Lim, Managing Director of Ricoh Singapore in his opening speech. It is then followed by the green sharing by Mr. Goh Guo Wei from National Environment Agency (NEA) and Ms. Bhavani Prakash from Green Collar Asia who touched on the “Energy Efficiency in Singapore” and “Walking the Green Talk at the Workplace” respectively.
Keppel Land Limited, the pioneer winner for its creativity in rallying its staff to go green, continued to shine for the second year, walking away with both the Most Creative Eco Award & Most Effort Eco Award 2013. More than just being the Eco Action Day’s Exclusive Supporter by promoting Eco Action Day at eight of its office premises, Ms. Woon Pek Yong, Assistant General Manager of Investor Relations & Research of Keppel Land took the opportunity to share on the company’s active green involvements such as lake cleaning, recycling initiative drive and books exchange programmes spanning across April to June.
The Most Fun Eco Action Award Winner, ITE College East, incorporated eco activities such as green sharing by their environmental champions and craftmaking using recycled materials into their orientation programme for all the new students.

This year, one of the well-known international air carriers, Cathay Pacific Airways Singapore, for the first time, participated in the Eco Action Day. In an effort to reduce paper and electricity consumption, the company implemented practical changes such as waste segregation practices, sending eco reminders and putting up awareness posters around its office facilities. Furthermore, the management demonstrated extremely supportive role towards the green initiative hence contributing to the winning of the Most Inspiring Eco Award for their organization.
On the other hand, the Best Eco Practices Award went to Panasonic Asia Pacific Pte Ltd, a prominent Japanese organization with a comprehensive suite of company-wide environmental practices. Since 2008, the company has initiated Green Transport Day by encouraging their employees to take B.M.W i.e. Bus, MRT & Walk, to work in supporting the Eco Action Day. To date, this initiative has saved approximately 650kg of CO2.
In view of the continued support and commitment toward Eco Action Day for the seven consecutive years since 2007, three longstanding awards were presented to Alexandra Health, Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau and Senoko Energy Pte Ltd.
Close to 50 organizations participated in Eco Action Day 2013 and to date, more than 300 organizations have joined this meaningful campaign.
